-Plan a scheduled time for each day of practice
-Select a time after school when your student has the most energy

-Provide a straight backed chair and music stand
-Sit with your budding musician as he/she practices
-Praise your student for their efforts and progress
In place of practice reports, we are administering two different kinds of WEEKLY tests--a playing test and a take-home written test. THESE TESTS ARE ASSIGNED EVERY WEEK AND ACCOUNT FOR 40% OF YOUR STUDENT'S OVERALL GRADE--please do not take them lightly.
For your student to be successful on the weekly playing test, he/she MUST be practicing regularly at home. The take-home written tests are due the day after they are assigned--no exceptions. We have several students that have not been turning in their take-home tests or turning in incomplete tests. These tests are open book--there is no reason that they should not be receiving high grades. You may want to check your student's grade on Information Now to see if he/she has been turning in these tests.
OLD SETTLERS' DAY PARADE:
The Middle School Band will be marching in the Old Settlers' Day Parade on Saturday, September 20th. THIS IS A REQUIRED PERFORMANCE.
All MS band students will be wearing the MS band tshirt (tucked in), blue jeans (no holes), and tennis shoes. If your student has ordered a MS band tshirt, they will be delivered next week. Payment for the shirt is due Friday, September 19th. Prices are listed below:
Students will need to be at the Middle School Band Room by 8:15am to warm up. Parade begins at 9:00am. The students are dismissed at the conclusion of the parade.
We have an incredible, custom guitar that has been made by P-T Band dad, Roger Cowan of Dog Tired Guitars. Roger personally built the guitar and is donating it for a raffle to help raise funds for new uniforms. Tickets can be purchased at any P-T home football game, where the guitar will be on display. People who are not local may purchase tickets through the link on the band's home page. The drawing for the guitar will be on December 15 at the P-T Band Christmas Concert.
