Thank you to everyone who applied for leadership and/or band staff! We had so many GREAT candidates, and the decisions were exceedingly difficult to make. The future is incredibly bright for the Perkins-Tryon band program with so many OUTSTANDING young men and women.
Here are a few last minute reminders and announcements before band camp begins on MONDAY! Please be sure to read everything thoroughly.
THINGS YOU NEED TO BRING
3. Tennis shoes
4. Lunch (or money to eat out)
7. Flip folder (with music already printed and organized)
If you do not have a way to print your music, you will need to arrive at 8am on Monday morning to organize your music.
Please double check to see if your band shoes still fit. If you need to order new ones, we need to know ASAP.
STUDENTS THAT USE SCHOOL-OWNED INSTRUMENTS
If you use a school-owned instrument during marching season (i.e., tenor sax, mellophone, baritone, sousaphone, etc.), you need to arrive at 8am Monday morning to re-check out your instrument. This applies to everyone that uses a school-owned instrument--even if you already have one checked out to you.
STUDENTS THAT DRIVE
1. Students are expected to park in student parking ONLY (by the gym). Please do not park in teacher parking by the band room and/or the high school.
2. Please drive responsibly and safely in the parking lot.
If you go off campus for lunch, please be on your utmost best behavior. Treat employees with respect, do not make a mess, and clean up after yourself. You are representing the band program--hold yourself to high standards.
*Buses are provided for the off campus events (with the exception of the Back-to-School Cookout).
More information about some other items will be coming very soon. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Band Camp starts TWO weeks from TODAY (ONE week for percussion and color guard)!
Here are some things you need to do BEFORE camp begins:
1. Be sure you have a flip folder. If you don't, you can easily order one from Amazon. If you left yours in the band room and your name was not on it, do not count on it still being here.
2. Please print and organize your music.
4. Please have sunscreen, a large water bottle, and TENNIS SHOES (no boots or sandals) on the first day of camp.
The woodwind and brass part assignments have been posted on the website along with all of the music for the 2019-2020 Marching Season. To access the music and part assignments, go to the band website, click on DOWNLOADS, and then click PRINT MUSIC or just follow this link:
Woodwind and brass students should clean out flip folders and print the current music for the upcoming year. Please organize your music in this order:
-Stand Tunes in ALPHABETICAL order
-Angels We Have Heard on High
Students should set a goal to have the pregame music (Oklahoma, Notre Dame Victory March, and The Star Spangled Banner) memorized BEFORE band camp.
Recordings of all of the music have also been posted on the band website for student use. Go to the band website, click on DOWNLOADS, and then click SOUND FILES or just follow this link:
