We're just a couple of days away from kicking off the 2016-2017 year! This is going to be a fantastic year in so many ways. We have lots of great things planned and some pretty amazing things that are going to happen with YOU!
Band Camp
In addition to everything we stated earlier, please make note of the following items as well.
Lunch: Students will be given an hour every day for lunch. Students may leave campus, bring lunch and stay at the band room or purchase lunch from 7 T's food truck which will be here every day during camp. (7 T's food truck is owned and operated by some of our band parents, Rockford and April Todd.) A director will always be in the band room during lunch to supervise any students staying here.
WATER!!!! Please make sure you are staying well hydrated both before and during band camp. The heat and humidity will feel relentless. Be prepared every day with a water JUG, not just a little bottle. We will take frequent water breaks while we are outside, but you must take care of yourselves! Dress appropriately, use sunscreen, wear sunglasses and/or hats. We want everyone to be safe!
Medical Release Forms: All students need to print off and complete the medical release form. Please get it turned in during the first week of camp.
Students using school-owned instruments: We will have a check-out form for you on Monday. You will need to return this form along with the fee during the first week of camp.
Color Guard: Please get your $50 turned in during the first week of camp.
Percussion: 10-12 Grade Students will be given a percussion equipment usage form. You will need to return this form along with the fee during the first week of camp. (Since 9th grade students purchased a percussion bag last year with sticks and mallets, they will be waived from the percussion fee. However, they must replace their own sticks and mallets as necessary.) Also, the file below shows what parts you are assigned on all stand/pep tunes. Please make sure you have looked at this and have the correct music IN YOUR FLIP FOLDER for camp.
Fun Activities: We have several fun activities planned throughout band camp. We encourage everyone to stay and enjoy the fun. However, it is not mandatory. We do ask that everyone is there for our "Skit" day as everyone plays an important part in their group's skit. There are a couple of days that do have a small cost associated with them; bowling and Roller Dome. (Please come, even if there is a financial difficulty. There is help if you need it!)
Flip Folders and Lyres: Make sure you have your flip folders and lyres from day one. If you have rings that have broken on your flip folders, you need to go somewhere like Lowe's and get some new metal rings. I have very few and they will be available for emergencies only. Plus, the ones you get at Lowe's will be much stronger.
